Pink Ribbon Ride September 26th

2009 Pink Ribbon Ride

September 26th--10:30 am. Riverside State Park
(Aubrey L. White entrance off of Trails Rd.)

This year, sons can ride for prizes, too!

Prizes:

There will be 6-$100.00 college scholarships*
Gift Certificates for Chaps, Latah Bistro and Longhorn Grill
6 prizes donated from the Grocery Outlet of Spokane
Lots of Equestrian themed gifts

After the ride we'll have a tailgate lunch and a TACK SWAP & SELL from the back of our pickups or right out of our trailers--just bring that tack you don't use or want anymore! (Time to clean out the tack rooms!)

This will be our last BIG hurrah before winter and we're looking forward to a GREAT day together.

All donations for the ride ($5.00 per rider if you RSVP before the ride recommended, but not mandatory) will be split 50/50 and donated toward Breast Cancer Research and the Scholarship fund, so that we can aid the causes near and dear to our hearts!

There will also be a raffle for a $50.00 gift certificate to Big R--and more fundraising items for sale.

This club is, and always has been, about friendship, family and giving.

Please join us!

Details:

All riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Riders must sign a liability waiver before participating (under 18, guardian signs). Bring fold out chairs and a lunch. Dress for any kind of weather.

At 10:30 am. riders can set out on different trails in search of ribbons. We meet back at the trailhead after an hour of riding--each rider (ages 21 and under) bringing back one ribbon- parents are encouraged to accompany. The ribbons will be numbered and when all the participants have returned safely to the trailhead we'll draw numbers randomly and let the winners come up and choose their prize. (It's like an easter egg hunt, but you're
searching for pink ribbons tied to trees.)

Directions: The ride is at Riverside State Park at the Aubrey L White entrance off of TRAILS RD. There are a couple of Aubrey White entrances, please be sure to go to the one off of Trails. There will be pink balloons tied to the gate off of Trails and more pink balloons tied to the next
turn--first road in. Follow the gravel road to the VERY END where there will be more pink balloons and lots of trailers! Email for more specific directions.

Come early so that you can sign the waiver and get registered.

What you should bring:

Helmets
Lunch & drinks
Jackets
Fold Out Chairs
Extra Tack you may want to swap or sell
Your horse!
$$$$ for donations--clean out under those cushions!

Help The Rescued Horses--Please

Hi ladies.

As you may have read in the Spokesman Review or seen on the nightly news KREM, there is a rescue effort currently under way for 33 horses up near Springdale, WA.

Pam Swiderski of Fantasy Farm Thorouhbreds, a wonderful woman with a big heart for horses, is heading it up. Please visit her site and email her a big thanks--her email link is toward the bottom. Or, click here Pam Swiderski.

After speaking with Pam today, we've found that the needs are these:

Hay
Grain
Wormers
Possibly Vaccinations
Adopters
People to love on the horses! (She welcomes everyone to come help after they're all set up--which should be this Wednesday).

Tony Hamilton, a local farrier, has volunteered to trim all the horse's hooves!!! Thank you, Tony!!!! If you know him, give him a BIG hug for us all here at MDH.

Moms Daughters and Horses would like to put a care package together and raise money for some hay, so if you can donate any small amount, please do. Just email us at club@momsdaughtersandhorses.com with anything you'd like to give--10,20,30 dollars--whatever you can spare. If every one pitches in a little--it adds up to a lot, and maybe it will help ease the burden until homes can be found. Whatever your donation is, we'll get it directly to Pam to help meet the above needs, and since we're a 501c3--your donations are tax-deductible.

A BIG thank you to Shepherd's Way Horse Rescue--another 501C-3 organization to help horses--and Pam Swiderski for all that they're doing--which is a lot.

Here are their contact numbers if you'd like to get ahold of them directly.
