Help The Rescued Horses--Please

Hi ladies.

As you may have read in the Spokesman Review or seen on the nightly news KREM, there is a rescue effort currently under way for 33 horses up near Springdale, WA.

Pam Swiderski of Fantasy Farm Thorouhbreds, a wonderful woman with a big heart for horses, is heading it up. Please visit her site and email her a big thanks--her email link is toward the bottom. Or, click here Pam Swiderski.

After speaking with Pam today, we've found that the needs are these:

Hay
Grain
Wormers
Possibly Vaccinations
Adopters
People to love on the horses! (She welcomes everyone to come help after they're all set up--which should be this Wednesday).

Tony Hamilton, a local farrier, has volunteered to trim all the horse's hooves!!! Thank you, Tony!!!! If you know him, give him a BIG hug for us all here at MDH.

Moms Daughters and Horses would like to put a care package together and raise money for some hay, so if you can donate any small amount, please do. Just email us at club@momsdaughtersandhorses.com with anything you'd like to give--10,20,30 dollars--whatever you can spare. If every one pitches in a little--it adds up to a lot, and maybe it will help ease the burden until homes can be found. Whatever your donation is, we'll get it directly to Pam to help meet the above needs, and since we're a 501c3--your donations are tax-deductible.

A BIG thank you to Shepherd's Way Horse Rescue--another 501C-3 organization to help horses--and Pam Swiderski for all that they're doing--which is a lot.

Here are their contact numbers if you'd like to get ahold of them directly.

Shepherds Way Rescue. Call Carrie Aenk for more information: (509) 892-6707 or (509) 844-3499. Pam Swiderski of Fantasy Farms--509.276.7200.

Fall Ribbon Ride A Success!

The Club held it's first Fall Ribbon Ride in early October, and it was amazing fun for all as we rode through Riverside State Park and found hidden ribbons on trees. Each ribbon corresponded with a prize and all the participants found at least one. Cassidy Jacobson won the grand prize--a pink designer hay bag from The Foxy Horse & Hound. The club plans to host another ribbon ride this Spring--so watch for more details. And, if you'd like to volunteer a little time to help, please contact Tiki, Activities Coordinator .

Come Blog With Us

A wonderful way to get to know each other and our horses better is to blog. There is a large equestrian community here that is already doing so and it grows daily. Blogging is free and can be as little or as much as you want to put into it. It's a great way to network and get support--ideas and encouragement. Our Club Blog is—momsdaughtersandhorses.blogspot.com . If you already have blogs, please let us know what they are, and we'll hook them up to ours. Please bookmark it and occasionally check in to see what's going on in the club. And, don't forget to check into the main website from time to time for information on college scholarships and horse adoptions as well as pictures of the club members. http://www.momsdaughtersandhorses.com/

Come join us

Good Morning ladies,
I was just going over some notes that I had written down about next months meeting and I wanted to extend an invitation to join us on Sunday November 2 at 4:00 for our next club meeting. We have a ton of exciting stuff to go over and lots of exciting things to work on for the future. Tina and I have been doing some hunting and have come up with a few new fundraiser ideas and I have also been doing some hunting and have some very good leads. So please join us for this and just for some fun horse chat, and if you can't join us don't worry we will have all of this exciting news posted here and on the website so that you can find out what the club has in store for it's members in the coming year.
On another topic I hope all of you have been able to get out and enjoy some rides on these last few fabulous days that we have had. I myself have been out a few times to enjoy the company of my kids. I am not sure how much they enjoyed it as I actually got on Mercedes for the first time in 2 years. She was gold as usual but a little on the spoiled side whats new right they are my kids after all. Tug was wonderful he is remebering all of his training and I do believe we are headed for the show ring next spring I am so excited I hope he will do well and handle the stress. And for Mercedes I am thinking that she will be heading to the cow penning arena and maybe the show ring we will see. So what are all of your plans for the next riding season? Feel free to share and maybe we can get some people hooked up for trail rides or carpooling (or is it truck pooling :)) to the show ring/cow penning ring.
Thanks ladies for lending me your ear and we definitely hope to see you next Sunday and I look forward to hearing everyones plans for next season.

Weekend Ride

Hello everyone,
I just wnated to drop by and say a quick hello and let everyone know that as of next month we are going back to the original set up for meetings. We will have a meeting the first Sunday of every month starting at 4:00 p.m. at Round Table Pizza the meetings will rotate to the 3 different restaurants.
Also on Sunday the 21 st of September we are hosting a Ribbon Ride for the girls. Everyone is welcome to come but the girls are the only ones who can collect the prizes. There will be approx 4 ribbons tied to trees and each ribbon brought in can be exchanged for prize. Here are the details and the directions we really hope to see everyone there:

MDH is sponsoring a Fall Ribbon Ride for our moms and daughters at Riverside State Park. The event is free, you just need to sign the liability waiver before you begin your ride. We will tie about four ribbons on trees throughout the park, depending on the number of donations that come in before the ride, and the daughters (18 and under) get to ride out and find them!! Moms should accompany their daughters, but only daughters will be able to claim the prizes this time. Those who find a ribbon and bring it back to the starting area, will get a prize. The ride itself is very easy--no water crossings--and lasts about 2 hours total. We park at the trailhead off of Old Trails Rd where there is an entrance to trail #25 that leads down into the valley. We'll give each group a map of the area before you start. The date is Sunday September 21st at 2:00 pm. Please bring a lunch/dinner to enjoy afterward as we have a tailgate social and wait for all the riders to get in. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact Tiki at tikitoy@msn.com , or reply to this email and I'll forward it!
Directions: (Please Google it to get a better idea before you leave your house. Type in Old Trails Rd Spokane WA and you will get the section of map you need. Follow Old Trails Rd to where it turns into N. Inland Rd, and that is where the trail head will be.)Coming from the North or East you can come from either 7 Mile Rd or Trails Rd--The South Entrance--Take W Northwest Blvd turn right to W Fort George Wright Dr.(It will pass Spokane Fall Community College) take another right to N. Government Way which turns into Trails Rd--a mile up and toward the top--Old Trails Rd to the right. It turns into N. Inland Rd as it approaches the park--the trailhead is at the end of the pavement when it turns into gravel road. The North Entrance--West on 7 Mile Rd. to N. Inland Rd (there will be a sign that points left to the ORV--follow it and PASS the ORV--at the end of the gravel road you'll find the trailhead.

Happy riding enjoy our lovely fall weather,
